What is Poker?
The card game of competing hands. At the start, choose from three variants: five-card draw, Texas hold'em or seven-card stud. Chips carry over from hand to hand, and the session continues until players run out of chips or the host ends it.

Rules of Poker
These rules always apply at our tables.
- Five-card draw
- each player is dealt five cards face down. After a round of betting, you may discard any number of cards (0 to 5) and draw the same number. Bet once more, then the showdown.
- Texas Hold'em
- each player is dealt two cards face down. After betting, shared cards are turned up on the table—three (the flop), one (the turn) and one (the river)—with betting after each. Make your best five-card hand from your two cards and the five on the table.
- Seven-card stud
- each player gets two cards face down and one face up, then three more face up one at a time, and a last card face down, with betting after each deal. Make your best five-card hand from your seven cards.
- Chips
- everyone starts with 1,000 chips. Chips carry over from hand to hand and go up and down until the table is closed.
- No limit
- bets and raises have no cap, and you can go all in with everything you have.
- Forced bets
- draw and hold'em begin with a small blind of 10 and a big blind of 20. In stud everyone antes 5, and the player with the weakest face-up card opens with a bring-in of 10.
- Side pots
- when someone is all in, the pot is split according to how much each player bet, and each pot has its own winner.
- Hand rankings
- from weakest, high card, one pair, two pair, three of a kind, straight, flush, full house, four of a kind and straight flush (see the hand list below for examples).
- Showdown
- if everyone folds but one, that player takes the pot. If more than one stays to the end, the hands are shown and the strongest takes it.
- Ending
- keep playing hand after hand with “Next hand”. The game ends when one player has won all the chips, or when every human player has run out. The host can also end it between hands with “End here (rank by current score)”; final standings follow chip counts.
Poker hand rankings
Hands are made of five cards. Higher in the table beats lower; between the same hand, the higher numbers win. 2 is the lowest card and A the highest, except in the straight A-2-3-4-5, where A counts as 1.
| Category | Example | Rank |
|---|---|---|
| Strongest first | ||
| Straight flush | 9♥10♥J♥Q♥K♥Five in a row, same suit | 1 |
| Four of a kind | 7♠7♥7♦7♣2♠Four of the same number | 2 |
| Full house | Q♠Q♥Q♦4♣4♠Three of one number and two of another | 3 |
| Flush | 2♦6♦9♦J♦K♦Five of the same suit | 4 |
| Straight | 5♠6♥7♦8♣9♠Five in a row, any suits | 5 |
| Three of a kind | 8♠8♥8♦K♣3♠Three of the same number | 6 |
| Two pair | J♠J♥4♦4♣9♠Two different pairs | 7 |
| One pair | A♠A♥10♦6♣3♠Two of the same number | 8 |
| High card | K♠J♥8♦5♣2♠No hand; the highest card decides | 9 |
Between the same hand, compare the numbers that make it; if those match, compare the remaining cards. If everything matches, the pot is split.
