How to play Doubt
Those two cards —
really sevens?
Play cards face down while naming the number, and if you think it is a lie, call “Doubt!”. If you are right the player takes the whole pile; if wrong, you do. The first to empty their hand wins. A classic card game for 3–6, known from school and family gatherings.

What is Doubt?
All cards are dealt. In turn, players put one to four cards face down on the pile while counting up from A: 2, 3 and so on. You may play cards that are not that number — that is the lie. When someone plays, anyone else may call “Doubt!”. The cards are turned over: if even one is wrong, the liar takes the whole pile; if all are true, the one who called takes it. After K comes A again. The first to play out their hand wins.
Playing Doubt at Kirakuken
- The thirteen numbers circle the pile, so the current and next number are clear at a glance
- Five seconds after each play for anyone to call “Doubt!”; if everyone lets it go, play moves on at once
- The CPU counts lies from its own hand and the cards played; choose Easy, Normal or Strong
- You can add a joker when opening the table
Rules of Doubt
These rules always apply at our tables.
- Dealing
- all cards are dealt out one at a time.
- Playing
- on your turn, put one to four cards face down on the pile as the current number (starting at A, then 2, 3 … and after K, A again). They need not really be that number.
- Doubt
- for five seconds after a play, anyone but the player may call “Doubt!”. If several do, the first counts. If everyone lets it go, or five seconds pass, the next player’s turn begins.
- Revealing
- when doubt is called the played cards are turned over. If even one differs from the number, the player takes the whole pile; if all are true, the caller takes it.
- Going out
- your last cards can be doubted too. If they pass or prove true, you are out. The first one out wins; the others are ranked by how few cards they hold.
- Hand limit
- anyone who takes the pile and ends up with more than 26 cards is out, in last place (later outs rank lower). Their cards are set aside face down, and each time someone picks up the pile and empties it, 13 of them are placed face down to start the new pile. When only one player is left, they win.
Optional rules
You choose these when opening a table.
- Joker
- add one and it can be played as any number (it always counts as true). Choose it under “Details” when you open the table.
- Hand limit size
- choose "None", "20 cards" or "26 cards" under "Details" when opening a table (26 by default). It stops players from deliberately taking the pile to hoard cards and leave others nothing but lies to play.
