What is Blackjack?
You play against the house (the dealer). Once everyone has placed points, the house deals two cards to each player and two to itself, one face down. In seat order, each player hits or stands to get close to 21. Go over 21 and you bust and lose. When everyone is done, the house turns its hidden card and draws until it reaches 17 or more. Closest to 21 wins. The game ends after ten rounds, and whoever has the most points wins.

Rules of Blackjack
These rules always apply at our tables.
- Points
- everyone starts with 1,000 points. It's all points; no money is involved.
- Placing points
- each round, decide how many points to place against the house (10 to 100, in steps of 10).
- Counting
- 2 to 10 count their number, J, Q and K count 10, and an A counts 1 or 11, whichever suits you. An A and a 10-card as your first two cards is a blackjack, the best hand.
- Hit or stand
- draw cards one at a time. If your total goes over 21, you lose at once.
- Double
- on your first two cards only, you may double the points you placed and draw exactly one more card.
- Split
- if your first two cards are the same rank, you may split them into two hands (placing the same points again). You can split once; split aces get one card each.
- The house
- when everyone is done, the house turns its face-down card and draws until it reaches 17 or more (it also stands on a 17 counting an A as 11). If its face-up card is an A or a 10-card, it checks the hidden card first and settles at once on a blackjack.
- Payout
- a win pays the points you placed, and a win with a blackjack pays 1.5 times. Equal totals are a push; a loss or a bust loses the points you placed.
- Cards
- two decks are shuffled anew every round.
- End
- the game ends after ten rounds. Whoever has the most points wins (playing alone, it's how far you got above where you started).
